This 3-day Mu Cang Chai motorbike tour takes you deep into Vietnam’s northern mountains, far from the crowds and well beyond the usual tourist routes. Ride across winding mountain passes, explore golden rice terraces, trek to remote Thai and Hmong villages, and stay in welcoming local homestays.

Whether you choose to ride your own motorbike or join as a passenger with a local guide, this journey offers a flexible and immersive adventure — perfectly balancing natural beauty, cultural connection, and a rewarding level of challenge.

Morning – Transfer from Hanoi to Nghia Lo
You will be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and transferred to My Dinh Bus Station. From here, board a comfortable sleeper bus to Nghia Lo, the gateway to Vietnam’s northwest mountains.
The journey takes approximately 5.5 hours, passing through changing rural landscapes.

11:30 AM – Arrival in Nghia Lo & Lunch
Meet your local guide and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Take time to stretch, relax, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Early Afternoon – Motorbike Ride to Tu Le (≈50 km)
Start your motorbike journey toward Tu Le Valley. You may ride your own semi-automatic motorbike (with guide support) or sit pillion behind an experienced local guide.
Along the way, pass rice paddies, tea hills, and traditional Thai villages.

Arrive in Tu Le and check in to your cozy local homestay.

Late Afternoon – Trek to Thai Villages (≈5 km, Moderate)
Head out on a peaceful trek through rice fields and stilt-house villages to Lìm Phạ, a traditional Thai village nestled in a quiet valley of golden paddies.

  • Difficulty level: Moderate. The tour includes some uphill treks and rugged backroads. Riders should be confident on a motorbike, but you can also ride as a passenger with a guide. If you’re unsure, let us know, we’ll adjust the route to match your fitness and comfort level.

May to June is also stunning, known as the water-pouring season, when rain fills the terraces and locals start plowing, creating shimmering, mirror-like fields. April to June offers fresh green scenery. The tour runs year-round, though December to February can be chilly in the mountains.
  • Required experience: No prior trekking or motorbike touring experience is needed. If you don’t want to ride yourself, you can join as a passenger behind one of our experienced guides..
  • What to wear: Wear comfortable outdoor clothing, preferably long pants and breathable layers. A windbreaker or light jacket is useful for the pass. Good closed shoes (trekking or motorbike-friendly) are strongly recommended..
